Donors who wish to honor the memory of a deceased loved one, faculty member, friend, or classmate are invited to make a memorial gift. Such a gift will stand as a permanent reminder of the impact the honoree made during his or her lifetime. A gift in honor or in memory allows donors to express their feelings in a distinctive and memorable way.

There are many reasons and many ways to give. Whether to celebrate a personal or professional milestone or to pay tribute to family members, friends, or former Tech classmates and professors, a gift in honor or in memory will benefit the Institute far into the future, and it will leave a lasting legacy of the honoree.

Donors may designate their gift to a specific Tech program or fund, establish a new fund, or make an unrestricted gift to be directed by the President or his designee to meet the most pressing needs of the Institute. Gifts may be made by an individual donor or by a group of people the honored individual inspired.

In addition, Georgia Tech’s new Commemorative Tree Planting Program offers a unique opportunity to honor individuals while fostering a greener campus. An initiative stemming from campus efforts toward enhanced sustainability, the program coincides with the expressed goal of the Institute’s landscape master plan to more than double the campus tree canopy coverage with a total of 55 percent. This new effort will allow individuals or groups to fund the planting of a tree to honor, celebrate, commemorate, or memorialize living or deceased alumni, family members, and friends connected to the Institute, or to commemorate a special event or activity. A bench will be placed near all commemorative trees, with the option of a personalized plaque to permanently acknowledge those who have been recognized through the program.
